National IEC Benefits
When you join IEC Oregon, you automatically become a member of IEC National — connecting your business to a nationwide network of merit shop electrical contractors and the benefits that come with it:
- National events that move your business forward. Members gain access to premier industry gatherings, including the IEC Policy Conference, where contractors help shape the legislation and regulations affecting the trade, and the Business Summit, where owners and leaders sharpen the strategies that drive growth.

Advocacy for your Business
When the rules that govern your business are on the line, IEC Oregon is at the table. We are dedicated to protecting fair, open competition for merit shop contractors — with two advocacy teams working on your behalf at the state and national levels:
- In Salem, we’re your voice. Our Oregon team, including our dedicated lobbyist, tracks the legislation and BCD regulations that affect how you do business — and we actively seek input from our members so the positions we take reflect the priorities of the contractors we serve.
- In Washington, we defend the merit shop. The IEC National team champions the merit shop philosophy on the national and state issues shaping the trade, from codes and standards to legislative and regulatory affairs to industry outreach.
Promoting High Standards
The standards that define our industry don’t write themselves — merit shop contractors help shape them. Through IEC National’s Codes and Standards Committee, our members have a direct hand in the codes that govern electrical work nationwide:
- IEC places two representatives on each of the 19 NFPA panels that develop the National Electrical Code (NEC) — and several IEC Oregon members serve on these code panels themselves.
- We collaborate with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) to keep standards practical, safe, and current.
When you join IEC Oregon, you’re backing the merit shop business — and strengthening the future of the entire electrical industry.
