Contractors having both endorsements must fulfill the requirements established for the residential continuing education requirement and the commercial requirement. The hours taken for the residential obligation will apply towards the commercial obligation.
Beginning July 1, 2010, contractors with a commercial endorsement will be required to have completed continuing education (CE) at the time of their license renewal.
The following residential contractors are exempt from the three hour Building Exterior Shell Training (BEST) and two hours of building codes subject areas required as part of the Core Residential Continuing Education:
1. Electrical contractors licensed
2. Plumbing contractors licensed
3. Contractors that have an owner or officer licensed as an architect
4. Contractors that have an owner or officer licensed as an engineer
They are required to take three core hours in CCB Laws, Regulations and Business Practices.
