OREGON LICENSE RENEWAL

Continuing Education is part of the requirement for renewing most Electrical Licenses. (3-year cycle)

ATTENTION! CHANGES TO CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2014 for General Journeyman and Limited Residential Electricians Only. 4 hr Oregon Rule and Law (see below)

    • General Supervising Electrician (S) 12 CC / 24 CR
    • Limited Supervising Electrician (PS) 12 CC / 24 CR
    • General Journeyman Electrician (J) 8 CC + 4hr Oregon Rule & Law / 24 CR
    • Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician (PJ) 8 CC / 16 CR
    • Limited Residential Electrician (LR) 4 CC + 4hr Oregon Rule & Law / 16 CR
    • Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) 2 CC / 8 CR
    • Limited Energy Technician Class A (LEA) 8 CC / 8 CR
    • Limited Energy Technician Class B (LEB) 2 CC / 8 CR
    • Limited Renewable Energy Technician (LRT) 2 CC / 4 CR
    • Limited Journeyman Sign Electrician (SIG) 2 CC / 4 CR*

CC = Code Change - The Code Change Continuing Education Credits must be full filled by taking Code Change classes only.

CR = Code Related - This total of Continuing Education Credits are required in order to renew license however all credits required may be in Code Change.

Changes to Continuing Education Requirements General Journeyman and Limited Residential Electricians Only

The Electrical and Elevator Board has approved rule changes to the continuing education requirements for persons who hold electrical licenses. The changes require general journeyman and limited residential electricians to take a 4-hour Oregon Rule and Law course during each three-year license cycle, starting with the license cycle that begins October 1, 2012 and ends September 30, 2015. No other licenses are affected at this time. The 4-hour Oregon Rule and Law course is in addition to the code change requirements, the charts below list the changes for the Journeyman and Limited Residential licenses.

Please notice that a portion of Continuing Education credits must be from Code Change classes.You have not met the Continuing Education requirements for license renewal if you do not have the correct amount of Code Change Continuing Education credits
